How does the online multiplayer experience differ from single-player?

In online multiplayer, you can matchmake with up to three other random players or create your own custom games and invite up to three other friends. Enemies are tougher depending on the number of players in your party. Gear drops individually for each player in the party (it’s only visible to you in-game), while gold and materials are shared among all party members. Gear, gold and resources collected during a mission are awarded to that character upon successful mission completion.

By contrast, in single-player you must complete missions alone. Gear, gold and resources collected during a mission are also awarded to that character upon successful mission completion.
